Honestly, it is exactly what it sounds like!! A micro wedding is a small-scale wedding ceremony and reception, typically with fewer than 50 guests. It is an intimate and more personalized alternative to a traditional large wedding. Micro weddings typically involve the same elements as a traditional wedding, such as a ceremony, reception, and a meal, but they are designed to be smaller, more intimate, and more budget-friendly.
Micro weddings have become increasingly popular, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as many couples have had to scale down their wedding plans due to restrictions on gatherings. They are often held in unique or unconventional venues, such as private homes, gardens, or small restaurants, and they can be customized to suit the couple’s preferences and personalities. In this case, the micro wedding was in an art museum! I think this was SUCH an awesome idea. It’s giving modern, yet timeless! Some couples choose to have a micro wedding followed by a larger celebration at a later date, while others prefer the intimacy and simplicity of a micro wedding on its own.
With a micro wedding, I have seen behind the scenes that they tend to be less stressful, as you are only surrounded by your favorite / most important people in your life! If I had to do it over, I would definitely have a micro wedding! You can save money in some areas and go ALL OUT in other areas! I am even photographing a wedding next year where they rented a huge (looks like a castle) AirBnB out for 4 days to have their wedding and it sleeps 40 people!
Overall, you can get unique + creative with your wedding!! It doesn’t have to be what everyone else is doing… use this time to express yourself and your creativity while also celebrating your love story with the people who matter to you the most!
