Sabrina even says that booking a makeup artist should be something you do after buying your wedding dress, booking a venue, and a photographer! This is for a couple of reasons. One is because ALL vendors book up fast! The last thing you want is to find out that your top two artists are booked up already for your date. The second reason is because you need to allow TIME. You need to make sure there is enough time in between your booking date and your wedding date, this is because a lot of makeup artists do a trial run prior to ensure that you are happy and have everything planned out beforehand of what works best for you!

If you are like me makeup is just not your thing, and that’s okay! If your a bride that is confused when it comes to makeup here’s some tips to help you determine your wedding day makeup style. One thing to think about is how much makeup you are comfortable with wearing, if you are someone who doesn’t normally wear a lot of makeup then you are not going to want full glam. Another thing to think about is your dress and the venue, it is good to make sure everything will match according to your vision. Also consider your skin type, is your skin dry or oily? When booking with a makeup artist ask what their specialty is! A lot of makeup artists can do any style of makeup but have one that they specialize in and that they feel they do the best. These are all things that will contribute to deciding which makeup style you want to go with and things you should discuss with your makeup artist prior to the big day. You don’t have to know everything before meeting with your makeup artist, they will walk you through the process and help you pick a style that works best for you!

Like we mentioned earlier, a lot of makeup artists will do a trial run before your wedding day. During the podcast Sabra and I had THE BEST idea… consider doing your trial run on the same day as your engagement shoot! This allows you to get your trial run in and get all glammed up for your engagement pictures! This not only benefits you but it benefits your vendors too. It allows your photographer to see how your makeup is going to look in pictures and allows your makeup artist to see if there is anything you want to change for the wedding day.
The second way to get the most out of your wedding makeup is precare, precare is one of the most important ways to get the best quality out of your wedding day look. Start with having a good and consistent skincare routine, making sure your skin is at its best ensures that the makeup will look and lay right on your skin. Beauty expert Sabra Blevins recommends some products you should include in your pre wedding skincare routine. These items include retinol cream, serums, and masks. Something to keep in mind too is that healing your skin takes time! It is best to start on your pre-wedding skincare as soon as you can to allow enough time for your skin to clear up and look its best. So treat yourself girl, get those skincare products you have been eyeing and take yourself to the spa!
