Wedding days are sooo much fun and if you are a bride – you know how much planning, time and effort goes into just one day. To make you more at ease, I tried to think of things that for brides to help ensure that everything goes smoothly and you have a wonderful and memorable day:
1. Stay Calm and Relaxed: Wedding days can be emotional and overwhelming. Take deep breaths, meditate, or do something that relaxes you to keep your nerves in check! Coffee always makes me a little jittery… so if it does you too, maybe opt for a chai or matcha the morning of instead of a cold brew!
2. Delegate Tasks: You don’t need to handle everything yourself. Delegate tasks to trusted friends, family members, or a wedding coordinator to alleviate stress! If you don’t have a coordinator, then definitely delegate someone to be in charge, whoever that may be! BUT it shouldn’t be you – you need to enjoy your day!
3. Eat and Hydrate: It’s easy to forget to eat in the midst of excitement and nerves, but remember to have a nutritious breakfast and stay hydrated throughout the day.
4. Plan Extra Time: Give yourself extra time for hair, makeup, dressing, and any other preparations. This buffer will help prevent any last-minute rushes.
5. Have a Timeline: Create a detailed timeline for the day, including when you need to be ready, when photos will be taken, the ceremony start time, and so on. ** I do this for all of my wedding + elopement clients, so if you book with me – rest assured I got you covered!
6. Pack an Emergency Kit: Prepare a kit with essentials like safety pins, tissues, a small sewing kit, pain relievers, and any makeup you might need for touch-ups, and if you have a dress that buttons, get a hook off of amazon to save time and stress!!
7. Wear Comfortable Shoes: If your wedding shoes aren’t the most comfortable, have a backup pair that you can switch into for dancing or if your feet start to hurt!
8. Brief the Photographer: Have a conversation with your photographer about the must-have shots and any specific details you want them to capture. If you are my bride, I will do a call or meet up with you before the wedding to go over everythinggggg and make sure we are on the same page and get the shots you have been dreaming of!
9. Enjoy Moments Alone: Take a few moments alone with your thoughts before the ceremony starts. This can be a quiet and reflective time to soak it all in! I normally add this time into my clients timeline as well 🙂
10. Stay Hydrated: Keep a water bottle nearby to ensure you stay hydrated throughout the day, especially if it’s warm or you’re feeling nervous!
11. Have a Point Person: Designate a trusted friend or family member who can field questions and handle any last-minute issues, so you can focus on enjoying your day.
12. Remember to Eat: With all the excitement, it’s easy to forget to eat. Make sure you have a light snack before the ceremony to keep your energy up!
13. Smile and Relax: Your happiness and positive attitude will set the tone for the day. Remember to smile, relax, and enjoy every moment! The details will work themselves out.
14. Stay Present: Amidst the whirlwind, take moments to be present and truly experience the emotions and joy of the day.
15. Dance Comfortably: If your wedding dress is voluminous or restrictive, consider changing into a more comfortable outfit for dancing.. Or at least comfy shoes!
16. Have Fun: Ultimately, this day is a celebration of your love. Enjoy the festivities, dance, and make wonderful memories.
Remember that even with the best planning, some things might not go exactly as planned. Embrace the imperfections, focus on the love and joy of the moment, and cherish the memories you create. Congratulations, and may your wedding day be everything you’ve dreamed of and more!!!
