I had the joy of photographing Jenna + Drew as they prepare to welcome their daughter Addison into the world! This is such a sweet time that I am always happy to capture <3 Here are some tips for your next maternity session + a gallery at the bottom!

  1. When is the best time to take maternity pictures?

The best time to take maternity pictures is typically between 28 to 34 weeks of pregnancy. At this stage, your belly will be noticeably rounded and you’ll have a nice baby bump to showcase. Additionally, you’ll likely still feel comfortable enough to move around and pose for pictures without feeling too tired or uncomfortable! It’s also a good idea to schedule your maternity photo session in advance to ensure availability and to give yourself enough time to plan for the shoot!!

2. What should you wear to your maternity session?

When choosing what to wear for a maternity photo session, you’ll want to pick outfits that are comfortable, flattering, and showcase your baby bump. Here are some tips:

  1. Choose clothes that fit well and accentuate your cutie bump! You can opt for form-fitting dresses or tops, or loose-fitting clothing that still highlights your belly.
  2. Pick fabrics that flow and drape nicely, such as cotton or chiffon.
  3. Stick to solid colors or small prints that won’t overwhelm the photos. The color red is my least favorite to photograph LOL but you can still wear it, I just don’t recommend!
  4. Consider bringing a few outfit options to the photo session, so you can change into something different if you’d like.
  5. Accessorize with jewelry or other items that add interest and texture to your outfit. Even bringing props like a bouquet of flowers would add such a nice touch!
  6. Don’t forget about shoes and accessories – make sure they complement your outfit and are comfortable to wear during the photo session (especially if we are walking around)!

Overall, the key is to wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. You want to look back on these photos and remember this special time in your life with joy and happiness – make it special and perfect for you 🙂

I hope that was helpful for prepping for your maternity shoot – here are some of my favorites from Jenna + Drews session and if you are looking for a photographer, click here to fill out the session request for and I can help you plan and schedule your maternity shoot!
